Montezuma's: The Real Chocolate Club | Staff Review

Montezuma's The Real Chocolate Club is a monthly chocolate subscription box for cocoa lovers. For those with a sweet tooth, The Real Chocolate Club Box delivers an exciting, mystery assortment of milk, dark and white chocolates for the perfect self-indulgent treat. This week, our fabulous client services team review this delicious box of treats for us.

Montezuma's The Real Chocolate Club Box...
As a team, it's safe to say we are serial subscription box collectors, and while we may love the contents of our various boxes, we also have a bit of a soft spot for the packaging and presentation. When our first box arrived with us last Friday, we were met with what can only be described as a 'slab' of beauty, which blew us away (and we hadn't opened it at this point).
Not only was the box larger than any of us had expected, but inside the packaging was colourful, pretty, but simple and easy to read which we all liked. At this point, we unanimously agreed that we had made another excellent subscription box purchase.

The slabs of chocolate and truffles inside...
In our box, we received three large bars of assorted chocolate, a dark chocolate coffee bar, a bar of white chocolate with hazelnut and a bar of milk chocolate with 'cocoa nibs'. As well as this you also received three different types of truffles which spanned in flavour from margaritas (our team cocktail of choice, incidentally) to passionfruit and lime - it appears we're also getting elements of our five a day here too - what's not to love?
Our (rather extensive) experience suggests that as tempting as these chocolate boxes looks or smells, often the taste, or lack of, can let them down. Thankfully in this instance, this simply wasn't the case. The chocolate was luxurious in flavour, yet not sickly. It smelt divine, but not so overpowering that you want to move it away from you after you've finished eating it, in fact, it was quite the opposite, we proceeded to devour the whole box within an afternoon!

This month's colourful box insert...
With many food-based subscription boxes, personal preference does dictate, but one thing that several of the team agreed on was that the box had a lot of flavours going on, and we'd have preferred perhaps one of the bars to be more simple, e.g. plain white chocolate with no additions, but then again, that's just us.
At £19.99 a box (which becomes £16.66 a box if you subscribe for a year as we did), it's incredible value for money when you consider a small box of bland chocolates bought from your local supermarket can cost you in the region of £10. That's also not taking into account you're theoretically getting six different chocolate bars, and it's delivered directly to your door. Happy days.
To summarise, this box was an absolute winner for us, it's excellent value, it's delicious and it's versatile - you can send it to your best friend who's having one of those days, your teacher to say thank you, or even your dad because he's got a ridiculously sweet tooth and is impossible to buy for. We can't recommend this box highly enough, so go on and give it a try for yourselves - we're sure you won't be left disappointed!"
