It’s difficult not to judge a book by it’s cover, which is why most of us pick from the same best seller lists or select a book with a catchy title or an image that’s intriguing or interesting to us. But did you know that by doing this, you risk missing out on so many truly incredible reads?

How Novel puts all judgements aside and delivers you 1-2 books every month that are a complete mystery to you until you unwrap the beautiful packaging, peel the book open to its very first page and immediately become consumed by literary genius.

The packaging contains four hand drawn illustrations which aim to give you some insight as to what the book is about and to simply, pique your interest. Plus, to add a special novel touch to the service, every subscriber will have one of the How Novel team as their own, personal Pen Pal to whom they can write each month to discuss the Mystery Book they have received, life and everything in between.

Every box will feature a handwritten note from your personal Pen Pal and enclosed will be a blank copy of a gorgeous note card. All you need to do is apply the relevant postage and send it back to your pen pal. Alternatively, you can email it directly to your Pen Pal who will remain the same for the duration of your subscription.

Your Pen Pal will respond to your note with a bespoke reply the following month, allowing you to then continue the conversation – it is a reading experience unlike any other!

How does uOpen work?
You can order this subscription either for yourself or as a gift for someone. With most boxes you can pay monthly, in quarterly or 6-monthly installments, or annually, so choose which option you'd prefer. Then provide us with the delivery address and your payment details, and place your order. Once ordered, uOpen liaises with the subscription box seller and they arrange for your box to be delivered directly to you.

When will the first box in my subscription be sent?

How does the subscription renewal work?
Your subscription will automatically renew every month, every 3 months, 6 months or annually, depending on what subscription term you select. The auto-renewal can be easily cancelled in your uOpen account, but must be done at least 24 hours before the renewal date, otherwise your next payment will be automatically taken.
